Overview

Robert Ford shoots his friend and mentor, outlaw Jesse James, for love and the reward money to buy a ranch, marry and settle down. Instead, the government denies him the reward, his girlfriend leaves him and he is reduced to a traveling stage show and the target of every gunslinger who wants to make a name for himself.
