A Jew in Nazi-occupied Poland begins relaying fictitious news bulletins about Russian advances to keep hope and humor alive among ghetto residents.

In this period drama loosely based on Jane Austen's most autobiographical novel, penniless heroine Fanny Price is sent to live with wealthy relatives in 1800s England, where her wit and writing talent find the room and circumstance to grow. Her friendship with cousin Edmund evolves into a deep love, but Fanny is pursued by an eager suitor, whose sister is after Edmund.

A woman who broke up with her lover years earlier reunites with him, but their reunion is altered by the fact that he’s dating one of her employees.
