In a baroque spa hotel, an unnamed sophisticate attempts to persuade an unnamed married woman that they have not only previously met, but that they were also romantically involved and had planned to elope together.

A successful writer seems to have it all and yet is still bitter when he becomes obsessed with a prostitute who sends him down self-destructive paths.
