Gemma returns to the Philippines after being in prison in Canada and works as a nanny for the wife of her ex-husband in order to be close to her son with whom she plans to escape.

Though they haven't spoken in years, their sudden proximity immediately rekindles old arguments and resentments, compounded by the worsening Alzheimer's disease of their mother, Loleng (Gloria Romero). When she resumes her matriarchal role, however, Loleng still has the power to bring her family together.
