Film adaptation of Eto Mori's novel, Colorful. “Blank,” a soul chosen by the mysterious “Guardian,” homestays in the body of Makoto, a deceased high school student. While reincarnated, Blank must find what caused Makoto's death. Limited to 100 days, Blank spends time with his awkward family, a kind friend, and a crush from school. But a glimmer of light and large darkness intersect in the truth.

When four young orphans—Hikari, Ikuko, Ishi, and Takemura—first meet, their parents’ bodies are being turned into dust, like fine Parmesan atop a plate of spaghetti Bolognese, and yet none of them can shed a tear. They are like zombies; devoid of all emotion. With no family, no future, no dreams, and no way to move forward, the young teens decide that the first level of this new existence involves salvaging a gaming console, an old electric bass, and a charred wok from their former homes—just enough to start a band-and then conquer the world. Tragedy, comedy, music, social criticism, and teenage angst are all subsumed in this eccentric cinematic tsunami.

Innocent days are filled with kindness, at times with bitterness, but are always brimming with light. Mieko and Makio are friends in high school who befriend Eiji, a college student who works with them. Eiji and Makio fall in love, Mieko gives birth to their child, and Makio encounters his old childhood friend Asato. This is a story of youth and their beautiful yet bitter experiences.

Iwane returns to his homeland and gets caught in the middle of an incident that results in the tragic death of his best friends. He leaves his domain and becomes a vagrant masterless samurai. Iwane begins to work as a bodyguard at night for Imazuya, a reputable money exchanger. One day, he learns that Imazuya is being targeted in a conspiracy of the government, and Iwane decides to protect him.

In postwar Japan, a new terror rises; Godzilla. Will the devastated people be able to survive... let alone fight back?
