November 1870. Spanish Courts elect Amadeo de Savoy as the King of Spain. Much to popular dismay, he is a reluctant King who prefers beauty to power and passion over duty. Amidst of a crumbling empire, Amadeo gets lost in wine, fruit, sex and melancholia. His reign will be short.

Giulio and Alessio are two gay guys in their 20's who meet in Rome during a fiery month of August. Despite being very different, they are attracted to each other. Alessio is only staying in the capital for the weekend. This short term relationship will bring to light ancient wounds, forcing the two to face an unexpected tenderness and the blossoming of an overbearing and unprecedented feeling.
