Manorama

Gnana Oli is a 1972 Indian Tamil language film, directed by P. Madhavan and written by Vietnam Veedu Sundaram, starring Sivaji Ganesan. It is a loose adaptation of Victor Hugo's 1862 novel Les Miserables. This film was remade in Hindi as Devata and in Telugu as Chakravarthy.

Shankar’s son Deepak loses his voice in an accident. Shankar struggles to make ends meet so that Deepak can be operated upon. When it becomes a successful one, Shankar gets overjoyed and hurts himself in the process, losing his hearing. How will he hear his son’s voice now?

Two brothers are separated when their father is duped by their uncle and left in a miserable state. Years later, one of them returns for revenge!
