The summer of 1963, innocent 17-year-old Baby vacations with her parents at a Catskill's resort. There she meets Johnny, the hotel dance instructor, who is as experienced as Baby is naive. Baby soon becomes Johnny's pupil in dance and love.

Alex is a young woman who works a day job in a steel mill and dances in a bar at night. With the support of her boss Nick, she puts her fear of failure aside and renews her efforts to get accepted into a prestigious dance conservatory.
