Joe Keyes sees two men harassing a young woman on a late night train, but doesn't report it because he's in a hurry to get home. When Joe discovers that a sexual assault took place, he realizes that he could have prevented it. Eventually, he makes a statement and is forced to question his capacity as a man, a husband and a father, deciding to take the law into his own hands.

Proving that fact is often stranger than fiction, this multi award-winning film is based on real life events that took place in Romania at the end of the 1950s. Five friends, who are ex-resistance members and still idealists, join together to stage a daring robbery on the National Bank of Romania, making it look as if they're shooting a film. They're caught and found guilty and part of their punishment is to re-enact their crime and, ironically, have it filmed for posterity by the authorities as a warning to others. However, things don't quite go as planned. The wonderful ensemble cast brings this unbelievable story to life in a darkly comic drama.
