An ancient Chippewa demon, the Windigo, is resurrected by a Native American teenager and his grandmother to protect their family. However, the creature's lust for killing cannot be controlled and each killing bonds the teen and the Windigo closer.

Eight-year-old Jenny leads a lonely but imaginative life, surrounded by puppets based on the works of her artist father. But when her mother is tragically killed in a hit-and-run and her grandfather sues for custody, the puppets and other frightening characters suddenly start coming to life.
