Jack (Timothy Bottoms) plans a quick visit to his mother (Oscar-Winner Kim Hunter), but finds her acting strangely, slipping in and out of her past - sometimes real, sometimes imaginary. As he tries, along with his wife's (Kim Greist) prodding, to come up with a solution, old mysteries, secrets, and lies are uncovered, turning everyone's lives inside-out.
