In the first film featuring the classic character Ernest P. Worrell, Jim Varney plays Ernest, as well as Dr. Otto, a mad scientist with a hand growing out of the top of his head, who is trying to destroy the world with his Gloom Beam.

A brother of a successful singer, who has become an alcoholic after 25 years in the business, kidnaps him in order to dry him out. They discover that his manager has cheated him out of 8 million dollars over the years, so they seek revenge.
