Based on the book "Crossed Over: A Murder/A Memoir," this is the true story of the deep and healing friendship between a grieving mother, Beverly Lowry (Diane Keaton), and death row inmate, Karla Faye Tucker (Jennifer Jason Leigh).

Based on the novel A Mothers Gift by Britney and Lynne Spears, the film follows wannabe star Holly as she embarks on a determined mission to become a successful singer. Despite her talent and drive she soon finds the journey will not be an easy one.
