In this sci-fi drama, Daniel, a desperate physicist, becomes obsessed with time travel in an attempt to save his murdered girlfriend.

Isabel learns that her husband used her as a front person in a corruption scheme and has to serve house arrest with her daughter at her former housekeeper Marta's home. Marta now owns a small take-out business. Her daughter Ana Jasmim helps at the company and dreams of studying fashion. Isabel's arrival with her daughter Ana Rosa at Marta's house creates tension in relationships and stirs up unresolved issues from the past. Forced coexistence makes mothers and daughters rethink their relationships and find new roles. Meanwhile, the house lives under the constant threat of a loan shark. Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers.

Based on a novel "A Distant Father" by Antonio Skármeta, author of from "Il Postino," The Movie of My Life takes place in 1963 Brazil. The son of an French man and a Brazilian woman, Tony is captivated by cinema and poetry. After graduating from college he returns to his hometown to find out that his father has left for good. Tony turns to his father's friends, searching for information about his lost father. He becomes a school teacher and a defacto father figure to the school children. As he provides them with something he has lacked, he uncovers a lead on his own father's whereabouts and his reasons for leaving.
