DIVIDED WE FALL is based on a true story and takes place during World War II in a small German-occupied Czechoslovakian village, where Josef and Marie Cizek are a childless couple who struggle to evade detection when they provide shelter to a Jewish neighbor who has escaped from a Nazi concentration camp.

At the end of World War II, the restive border regions which are being repopulated by Czechs moving in from interior regions of the country. Fate reunites Jan with his brother-in-law Jurgen in a forced labor camp. After a daring escape, they flee through the mountains looking for Jan's wife Agnes, who is also Jurgen's sister. She is also on the run, hunted by the men whom she witnessed committing a horrific crime. Based on a true story that occurred in the Sumperk region.
