Lina Soualem

Leaving her village to follow her dream of becoming an actress, Hiam Abbass also left behind her mother, grandmother and seven sisters. Thirty years later, her daughter Lina returns with her to journey through the scattered memories of four generations of daring Palestinian women.

In the heart of the hammam, far from the accusing gaze of men, mothers, lovers, virgins and Islamic fanatics, butts and burqas, mingle and mix, confront one another, with laughter, tears, rage, the Bible and the Koran… before the flash of a dagger and the silence of God. The plot focuses on a single day in which political tensions, personal disappointments, and family expectations intersect.
