Created by Brad Ingelsby (HBO's Mare of Easttown), Task centers on Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo), an FBI agent based in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia whose life has been recently upended by tragedy. Following a string of robberies targeting local drug houses, Brandis is pulled back into the field to helm a newly formed task force assigned to the case. Meanwhile, unassuming garbage collector Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey) struggles to eke out a better life for his family, but a series of poor decisions lands him in the crosshairs of law enforcement and the Dark Hearts, a notorious local biker gang. While reckoning with their troubled pasts, Tom and Robbie each attempt to keep their fractured families together – as their decisions draw them onto a deadly collision course with each other.
