Every year, the city of Alto Mare holds a special Water-type Pokémon race through its canals-and this time around, Ash and Misty are competitors! Even though he doesn't win, Ash still finds his own special place in the heart of a mysterious girl he rescues from two thieves. But this isn't any ordinary girl-she's actually the Legendary Pokémon Latias in disguise!

After accepting an invitation from a mysterious trainer, Ash, Misty and Brock meet Mewtwo, an artificially created Pokémon who wants to do battle.

It's 1982, and Taeko is 27 years old, unmarried, and has lived her whole life in Tokyo. She decides to visit her relatives in the countryside, and as the train travels through the night, memories flood back of her younger years.
