Nena, an optimistic and perpetually human-loving German, has flown to California to see her favourite band, Blonde Priest, perform live at a giant music festival. Far less human-loving is Varnie, a broke venture capitalist who has just learned his girlfriend is pregnant and has done a runner. After a chance encounter, Varnie offers Nena a lift, and they hit the road together. As they drive their white convertible down the coast of California, meeting a host of quirky characters, Nena’s faith in human nature is severely tested and Varnie has to come to terms with life’s responsibilities.
