Sinan returns from his studies in the city of Çanakkale to his parents' home in the small rural town of Çan. He hopes to publish a book of essays and short stories (or what he describes as a "quirky auto-fiction meta-novel"). But his teacher father Idris is an addictive gambler, so much so that his mother and sister have become reluctantly accustomed to making do without food or electricity. So Sinan, with his writing dreams, worrying that he will be reduced, after army service, to teaching in the remote East, wanders around town, visiting his grandparents, encountering old friends, all the while looking for funding for his book.

Salih and Gürkan are cousins who are both musicians. They have take Tarkan as an example for themselves to become international music stars and they decide to become wedding singers as a steppingstone but they never seem to make it to the next step. These two cousins, who took off on the path to stardom, have no other talent besides their music and they manage to make an entry into the mafia world because of their bad luck. The fact that they lack talent is quickly realized there as well and they are forced to perform at the weddings of shady individuals as mafia’s morale team. When they decided to leave the mafia family, to which they have no idea how they became members of in the first place, they are presented with an agreement. They take on their first real assignment when they are ordered to abduct the officiator from one of the weddings they are performing at. The officiator, who turns out to be the same man that discovered Tarkan while he was singing, wants to turn the two cousins into stars. The man who is their way out of the mafia also becomes their savior from poverty. They must now make a choice...
